Filtering your Topics list

There are a few ways to do this, such as muting categories. Here’s another way.

Go to:

https://forum.lunduke.com/filter

and enter a filter! These are the experimental filters from a couple years back. Experimental topics list filter feature - Feature - Discourse Meta

I thought I’d throw in one example, though I’m positive you’re all more than capable of figuring this out and creating your own. If you wanted to filter a sub-category out of your Topics feed, such as retro computing (because who wants to look at that junk, right?) you could do something like this:

-category:no-politics:retro-computing

Note that spaces and special characters in categories should be replaced by a hyphen. If you’re unsure, just click on the category over on the left and look at the name in the URL field up top.

Happy hacking, nerds!

While filtering is nice for make adjustments on the fly, if you never want to see a particular category you can mute it. You can also give categories a higher priority, so that you’ll receive even more notifications.

Start by clicking All categories on the left, then select the category and/or sub-category you want to adjust. Let’s say you don’t want to ever see anything from the Lunduke Journal in your Topics feed. Switch the category to Politics OK, and the subcategory to Lunduke Journal. Then click the bell and select Muted.

The next time you refresh your Topics feed you won’t see any posts in that sub-category.
